Living in California in 2017, I started a project called “This is what humanity looks like”. I made one tiny protester every day for Trump's first 100 days in office, miniaturising real protest signs used in marches across the world. The combination of Carrie Fisher’s outspoken activism and her iconic role as feisty Princess Leia in Star Wars, made her image a natural fit with the progressive movement.
